How to Choose an Interactive Flat Panel: A 2026 Buyer's Guide

Buying an interactive flat panel (IFP) for a school or office? Get these seven things right and you'll avoid the most common — and expensive — mistakes.

1. Get the size right for the room

Too small and the back row can't read it; too large and it overwhelms a small room. Rule of thumb: 65" for rooms up to ~25 people, 75" for standard classrooms of 25–45, 86" for large classrooms, and 98" for halls and auditoriums.

2. Insist on 4K resolution

A 4K UHD (3840×2160) panel keeps text and diagrams crisp even up close. On large panels, lower resolutions look soft — 4K is the standard you should expect in 2026.

3. Check the touch technology and glass

Look for zero-bonding infrared touch with smooth passive-pen writing and palm rejection, protected by toughened tempered glass (3.2mm, 9H hardness) that survives daily classroom use.

4. Demand a Google-certified OS

A Google EDLA-certified Android panel (like TeachmintX X2 on Android 16) gives you licensed Play Store apps, Play Protect security and proper updates. Uncertified "Android" boards can lose access to Google apps — a costly surprise.

5. Decide if you need a camera

If you record lessons or run hybrid classes, choose a model with a built-in AI auto-framing camera and array mic (the TeachmintX PB models). If you only teach in person, a value model without the camera saves money with no loss in teaching features.

6. Warranty and local service matter most

A panel is a long-term asset. Choose at least a 3-year on-site warranty and — crucially — buy from an authorised dealer with local service engineers, so any issue is fixed quickly on-site rather than shipped away.

7. Buy from an authorised dealer with a demo

See the panel live before you buy, get a proper GST invoice, and make sure warranty is honoured. Grey-market or online box-movers often can't service the panel or validate warranty.

Sudarshan Consulting Services is an authorised TeachmintX dealer in Kolkata (Partner Code CFYL1K) with two demo centres, GST billing, 3-year on-site warranty and local installation across West Bengal and the North-East.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What size interactive flat panel do I need?

Use 65" for rooms up to about 25 people, 75" for standard classrooms of 25–45, 86" for large rooms, and 98" for halls. Viewing distance is the key factor — the farther the back row, the bigger the panel.

What does 'Google EDLA certified' mean and why does it matter?

EDLA (Enterprise Devices Licensing Agreement) certification means the panel is licensed to run genuine Google apps and receive proper updates and Play Protect security. Uncertified panels can lose Google services, so certification protects your investment.

How important is the warranty on an interactive panel?

Very. Choose at least a 3-year on-site warranty and buy from an authorised dealer with local engineers, so problems are fixed on-site quickly instead of long shipping delays.
